i'm smoother than words
• • • full name: kioshi mitsuo nori • • • nicknames: kio, mainly. • • • gender: male. • • • date of birth & age: october thirteenth, nineteen. • • • sexuality: pansexual. • • • race: legendary gryphon shifter. • • • face claim: eyes rutherford + spiral you're smoother than curves
Hair: Kio’s hair is a pale shade of silver, and is rather long (for a male, anyway). It reaches down near his shoulders, and is layered unevenly so that it has a rather messy look to it, as if he just rolled out of bed, no matter how hard he tries to tame it. Some even hangs in his face, which he never tries to correct.
Eyes: Bright, striking blue, almost the color of sapphires. His pupils are strange indeed, and seem to be slit, like a cat’s. This is a side-effect from his almost-failed DNA-injection, for he was almost turned to a feline rather than the gryphon. Sometimes he wonders what it would’ve been like to be a cat shifter instead.
Height: Six feet, one inch. To be perfectly honest, he hates being tall. Kio would much rather shrink back into the crowds, unnoticed, rather than tower over most people in public. He’s not the type of person who likes being the center of attention anyway, and being tall is incredibly troublesome to him.
Weight: The nineteen year old weighs about one hundred and thirty eight pounds. He’s incredibly slender, mainly because he barely ever eats. When he does eat, it’s mainly junk food though, but he burns it off by doing one of the few hobbies he has - running. Not that he cares about how he looks, but mainly because it’s turned into one of those habits he’s picked up…
Piercings/Tattoos: His right ear is pierced. It’s nothing much really, just a small silver stud with no real significance at all. On his back, you can find a tattoo that says the words ‘sinner’ in all capitals, black ink, in a sort of gothic, script font. It is a reminder of what he thinks he is: a sinner who cannot be forgiven.
Anything Else: Kio‘s favorite dress style would probably have to be in dark colors, and if the colors aren‘t dark, then it‘s a light silver. He doesn‘t vary much in what he wears, really. He never wears long sleeves (for no matter how cold the weather is, it‘s very hard for Kio to get cold for some real) and alays sports fingerless gloves, to cover the various scars found on the backs of his beaten and worn hands.
i speak so eloquently
Detached. That’s what many people dub Kio, but that’s not exactly the case. He has been hurt many times in the past, and any normal person would give up on society, would live the life of a recluse, but such is not so for Kioshi. The silver haired lad is actually quite compassionate, and finds people fascinating. Because he is aspiring to be a lyricist, he draws his inspiration from the people around him, on every day situations that most people take for granted. Kio could call himself a professional people-watcher, mainly because he can be found in large, busy areas, just standing in a corner, scribbling things down on a pad of paper, watching.
Because of this, one could say he’s very elusive. Rarely will he stop to talk to anyone or strike up a random conversation out of the blue. He feels that people should not have to get close to him, for he’ll just end up hurting them in the end. Kio doesn’t want to have to make up for any more of his mistakes ever again, and thinks that people are just better off without him having to interact with anyone. Despite this, however, he wishes he could bring himself to make friends that are close to him. If he does have any friends, the silver haired lad barely keeps in contact with them, for fear that he’ll get too close, and the terrible would happen.
The lad is very disciplined, far from a rebel. Kio has learned that there really isn’t anything one can do when it comes to the law and their rules, but he absolutely despises it. He loathes the law, the FBI, and anything else that’s telling him what to do and why. This is also another reason why Kio isn’t a very religious person. He thinks that everyone is their own god, and if there really does turn out to be one deity watching over us all, then it is one very screwed up deity indeed, for it must love watching it’s people suffer and sulk under pain. You’ll never see Kio walk into a church; if you do, then it’s probably the end of the world as we know it.
Meticulous and intellectual, one can easily call Kio a scholar, although why you’d want to label him as such is beyond him. As stated before, he is a lyricist, and he also plays the cello, two of his favorite pastimes which he is very loyal to. When it comes to loyalty, that is probably the nineteen year old’s only positive personality trait. When he makes a bond to something, whether that bond me to music, to a hobby, or to a person - whether they be a stranger he was watching on the street, or a friend he’s been keeping contact with for a while - the shifter will do anything to make sure that he keeps his word to someone. After all, loyalty and his word is the only things that are sacred to him… He wouldn’t dare taint his only redeeming traits.
• • • loves: solitude, the cello, calligraphy, birds, long novels, midnight, people watching, morning glories, writing lyrics, sitting atop rooftops, puzzles, a good mystery book.
• • • hates: letting people down, making mistakes, pain pills (they never, ever work) the FBI, law enforcement in general greedy people, mental abuse, inept parents, manipulators.
• • • flaws: low-self esteem, thinks more about others than he does himself, malleable, probably too emotional, too quick to call out himself on his own mistakes, be they big or small.
• • • secrets: wants to hate his sister for running away, but can’t. he also wants to die, but feels like that would be betraying his sister by even thinking of suicide at all.
• • • fears: the death of his sister, getting a terminal disease, loosing his ability to see one day, broken glass shards, small, secluded places, pain (is algophobia), when things change.
you won't have a chance to deny me
Kioshi was conceived on a windy October morning, where the leaves, shaded an array of autumn colors, blew against the hospital window, greeting the set of parents with a loving touch as their first born child smiled gently up at them. The duo had been trying for ages to have a child, and after three years of attempting to have one, Kioshi was finally born, the couple choosing the name for it’s meaning, ‘pure.’ And that’s exactly what the little child was in his early stages of growth, pure and innocent. He was a curious child, almost always managing to get himself into trouble in some way or another. Spoiled by his parents, doted upon by his whole family, Kioshi Nori didn’t ever have any cares in the world…
His sister, Emiko, was born when Kioshi was but three years old. Later, he would claim to not remember a time before his sister had entered his life. Haruko had sat Kio down and told him of how he would be a big brother now, and that Emiko was going to be someone he should always look after and be proud of. Kio took this lesson to heart, and decided at this young age that he would protect Emiko from the evils of the world, and be her knight in shining armor. When the both of them eventually started school together, Emiko had quickly become the target of bullies and other playground egomaniacs, but they would all back away once Kio came into their path, a look of death in his eyes, that clearly said to back away, or they’d pay.
Of course, everything changed when Kio turned twelve. For a long while now, the Nori household had been watched by the FBI, and in the dead of the night, the silver haired boy was stolen away from his home, in order to be tested upon with animal DNA injections. At first, they did not plan to turn him into a legendary. No, Kio was just a normal kid, they assumed, why would he make a good legendary? However, Kio had heard about what the FBI did to people here, how they were turning innocents into freakish machines. He knew he couldn’t be one of those, he just couldn’t, he had a sister he had to look after!
At first, he was injected with a form of feline DNA, but his body rejected the change. “I won’t become a monster!” he had exclaimed, and spent many days in one of their testing rooms curled up in the corner, straining, as if he was forcing his body to reject the change. The only sign of a change they could find was his pupils, which were now slits… His devotion and loyalty to a cause he believed in was what made them think that he would be best as a legendary… As the brave and powerful gryphon, the mere sign of loyalty itself.
This time, his body could not reject the change. How could it, with such a powerful injection? Now he was equipped with longer, retractable nails, or rather, claws, and a silver lion’s tail, which, to his pleasure, could be hidden easily, with a bit of help. However, there was no hiding from the fact that he could transform into a gryphon at will. Satisfied, the FBI punted him out of Recovery, saying nothing to him put, “Just live like you always do, kid. Not too much has changed, after all…” They laughed at that, and Kio, punted out in the rain, wandered for weeks until he found his home again, where he was instantly revolted, gawked out.
They couldn’t believe that it was really Kio, now a monster. His parents, they tried to accept him, but there was no hiding the hatred in their eyes. And his sister, oh, his sister took it the hardest. As the years went by, Emiko was more and more distant towards him, and refused to ask for his help when being picked on, refused to ask for homework help… She spiraled downwards into a deep depression, and started doing drugs and drinking at a young age, being a loose girl and throwing her body to random strangers, whoever would take her, she’d have intercourse with her. Kio couldn’t take it, told her to slow down before she got hurt… which she did. Emiko, at the age of fifteen was raped by a drunken hobo, causing her to be a mute.
It was a week after the rape that she decided to run away from home. It was a rainy night when she tried to make a run for it, and Kio, desperate, tried to stop her. Of course, it was futile, and despite his many attempts, Emiko left, and Kio blames himself for it. If he wasn’t a freak, she wouldn’t have tried to run away in the first place… Desperate and alone, Kio spent much of his time in silence, writing lyrics and playing his cello, deciding that he was going to have to leave his parent’s house and apply for university, so that he could concentrate on his studies instead of beating himself up over the disappearance of his sister.
To top everything off, at the age of eighteen, Kio was dubbed as legally blind by his doctor. At the age of twenty five he will eventually loose all of his eyesight altogether. Unsure of how to take this, Kio merely stared at his doctor, wondering if he was lying. He was not, and the silver haired lad wonders just how much more of this torture he has to take… He tries to cherish his eyesight for as long as he can, but wonders if any of life’s strife is worth it anymore…
He attends Equivo University now, and is a sophomore there, although he doesn’t plan to do much with his life. Maybe his lyrics will be worth something to someone. Maybe he’ll play cello for the elite and wealthy. But all he really wants to do is find his sister, say he’s sorry, sorry for everything. Until then, he won’t ever really be able to be at peace, not until he rights the wrongs he’s committed…
